(....) They are less landscapes than compositions that the canvases of Messrs. Girieud, Zingg and Demeurisse. We would like to see the former express himself finally in conditions that allow him to give his measure: that is to say on a monument. Mr. Girieud has not only the gifts and the drawing of a beautiful painter: it is with René Piot, our last great classic. He is one of the few men able to decorate a wall with authority, with a great sense of order, with clarity, in a modern spirit, that is to say without pastiche, and yet without falling into the aesthetic adventures of the abstractors of quintessence. But Mr. Girieud does not expose, probably as a reproach, a very small study, remarkably architectured. (....)
