| The Provençal painter Pierre Girieud has just died in Paris, struck down by illness and age. He leaves an important work in many museums in France and abroad.
Coming to Paris in 1900, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and conquered an enviable place in the arts.
He then moved to Marseille in 1912 and, in his workshop on the Quai de Rive-Neuve, he worked with Lombard.
After the war of 14-18, he returned to Paris, and justified his reputation as a decorator and colorist. He loved Provence very much, from which he drew inspiration to paint his most beautiful paintings. He is a great artist who has just passed away. |
