| At Druet Gallery, following the excellent exhibitions of Mainssieux and Gérard Cochet, you could see captivating works by Lehmann and Pierre Girieud. (....)
Pierre Girieud, who was one of our brightest wild beasts, has long found its way to damascus. He paints with a sort of haughty asceticism, which, without taking poetry from his landscapes, his portraits and his compositions, freezes them a little by dint of giving them style. Intellectualism, pushed to a certain degree, by spiritualizing man and nature departs from life. Pierre Girieud's art is of a nobility of spirit and an intelligence which I would have been happy to underline once more by commenting more on his exhibition. |
