| Under the auspices of the National Committee of French Foreign Trade Advisers and on the occasion of an economic mission to Norway, Sweden, Latvia and Denmark, an exhibition of works of art was organized on the liner Cuba. It includes a choice of prints from the 17th and 18th centuries, 68 contemporary paintings by: Maurice Asselin, Dufrénoy, Girieud, Labasque, Sabbagh, Jean Marchand, etc. The exhibition stopped over in the main cities in the north of Europe where French art is generally well received. The paintings on board were all works and properties of living artists; the engravings, some very rare, belonged to individuals. For the exhibitions of this kind, the risks which they involve do not make it possible to address to the museums. But organized in this way, it is a happy propaganda for French art. |
