| Since, thanks to Laurent Vibert, this young Lyonnais who died so prematurely, the Château de Lourmarin has been restored to its former splendor, that this brotherhood of artists, writers, teachers, cultivated minds has been installed there and faithful to Mediterranean humanism, a sort of intellectual phalanstery, of which Comœdia has had the opportunity to speak many times, the country of Lourmarin, or rather the “Combe de Lourmarin, as they say in the region, is more and more frequented by cultivated people who seduced the charm of the place and the beauty of its horizons.
In this region there is an old disused chapel that the owner, a friend of letters and the arts, Mr. Peyrabon, recently decided to have decorated. This chapel is located near Jas de Puy-Vert and it is the painter Pierre Girieud. whose beautiful suite he recently brought back from Greece, after having been responsible for the important compositions for the decoration of the University of Poitiers, to whom was entrusted the task of painting on the walls of this chapel of a Gothic villagers a series of. frescoes on the following themes: The Crowning of Psyche, The Marriage of Bacchus and Ariadne and Euridyce returns to the Champs-Elysées.
Pierre Girieud. as soon as he returned from Greece, he set to work, this fascinating work of the fresco that he has already practiced, we remember, in the same country, in Pradines, with his comrades Dufresnoy and Albert Lombard. He has just completed this series of paintings. The old "fawn", while returning to the principle of the great classical painting, took advantage of all the lessons, not so useless as we wanted to say, of this long period of pictorial research and also benefited from his recent stay in Greece.
