Contained about Girieud
A sincere, a faithful, an elegiac! Those who know the man and his slightly sarcastic smile - his smile where there is so much defense - may in turn smile at this term of elegiac. As well it is the work of the painter and in which the artist shows himself with more forgetfulness, more momentum than in the ordinary sequence of days. Few artists are more moved than Girieud in front of nature, and I do not know who render with more care, more piety of this emotion. Girieud loves the landscapes of Provence, the spaces where light plays, the fields to which the olive trees give I do not know what air of sacred wood and that the first foothills of the Alpilles, aerial and blue, limit by giving them more secrecy and intimacy. Girieud is a classic, it is by inspiration and it is in its style. Her canvases are imbued with Virgilian softness and cadence. Order and balance are his best virtues and if we can sometimes regret in the artist that the color is not more personal, at least each of his paintings is painted with science and finesse and the tones are they respond in a clear and fair pace. Girieud, alongside his landscapes, also exhibits compositions. Most of them are themes dear to the great classics and which he takes up for his own pleasure both in the manner of his illustrious elders and in his own These are workshop exercises as we see, arpeggios or virtuosos of painter and it will not be surprising that I prefer the impressions of nature where the artist is completely himself.
