Contained about Girieud
The Charlet Gallery (122 avenue Louise) was well inspired by bringing together in the beautiful setting where we have so far presented only Belgians, the works of three French artists: a painter, a sculptor, a ceramist, which complement each other admirably. Mr. Pierre Girieud is no stranger in Brussels. We remember his participation in more than one exhibition of Free Aesthetics. On the whole that he shows us this time, I particularly like the landscapes of Provence firmly established and constructed, and whose atmosphere and soul he admirably restores. These are among the vineyards, the olive trees with silver foliage, among the maritime pines and black cypress, the towns, the old villages, the old sarrazine small towns with walls burned by the sun whose houses climb like goats to the sun. assault on the high mountains. Sometimes in these luminous landscapes, Mr. Pierre Girieud, who tries to find the soul of Poussin, group of figures, couples in love, shepherds naked with their lips to their pipes. But, in this last note of his talent, I prefer to his paintings, the lithographs and illustrations he drew for some luxury works. (....)
