Contained about Girieud
If there are painters of today who recall the primitives of the middle ages, Mr. Girieud comes first. He seeks above all expression and harmony by the line with very clear colors, almost without half hues. These are flowers with a very intense decorative effect on a background of perfect harmony. These are landscapes he made in Siena, full of clarity with always a great concern for the line in the houses and trees on a very clear sky. By the way are still seen his nude studies where everything is sacrificed to the silhouette. The women of Girieud are no longer material things; painted very sincerely, they reach symbolism by the expression of gesture, sometimes even at the expense of accuracy. The two nudes he has to the Independents are very characteristic in this way that would be perfectly suitable for a monumental fresco. But where Girieud finds himself entirely, it is in his compositions. With a great search for lines, a harmony of composition and color, the very studied expression of all the characters; there are scenes of the terrestrial paradise very interesting. A Christ, whom the cross tripped on the way to Golgotha, makes one think of an old stained glass window.
